After using another brand's pomade for years I wanted to switch to something that was unscented but as natural as possible. A little searching lead me to Battle Born Original Pomade, and since it's a reasonable price I decided to try it out. While I know that "unscented" means no perfumes added it does still smell of nuts or legumes, but only very faintly. I only have to use a little bit, maybe 1/3 of a thumbnail at most, because it has a bit of a tacky feel that helps to add texture to my "fine" hair without clumping strands together into one whole or giving me a hair helmet. Since I don't have to use so much my hair looks "natural" and yet it holds onto my styling. My hair feels natural and soft and still light, which is exactly what I wanted. If you have fine hair and you've had issues with hold before, or if you just want a good, natural pomade at a reasonable price, this is the pomade for you.
I bought two different types of products and the both smell amazing and give my hair the hold I was looking for. I love that the products are made in Nevada and that I can help support this small business!
Battleborn clay pomade on towel dried wavy thick hair:
Shine: natural to low
Scent: bay rum
Scoopability: thick semi-dry
Washout: 85% just water
Endurance: whole day
Slickness: good for a clay pomade
Price: a bit pricey
Worth it? 100%
Opinion: I believe this one is the best clay pomades currently available. It has a perfect balance between dryness, slickness and natural shine to be considered a solid clay pomade.
I like how it makes my hair look and how it washes out very easily high recommend buying it
Lately I got a chance to try Battle Born Grooming Co products. They are definitely one of the top tier products in the pomade industry. Application is breeze, styling, restyling is just insane and blew my hair as well as mind. Well done team BBGC.
Now that I’ve used this a few times I can say that it works great. Don’t need to use much at all for the pomade to work. Wry easy to wash out.
I really enjoy using BattleBorn's original pomade as it has a good hold and washes out with a shampoo at night. The bay rum scent is really nice, too. Not overpowering, but noticeable throughout the day. I've used this pomade more than once, and plan to continue.
I purchased the first jar and ended up giving it to my son. The second jar is in my possession and I really enjoy the scent (none) and the hold (great). I had a couple questions and the support team answered quickly.
I’ve tried so many different matte pastes and Battle Born is by far the best quality I’ve used. Perfect hold - great scent - high quality product! Great customer service as well - you can tell the Battle Born team take a lot of pride in their products!
Found out im the first Australian customer for this wonderful product. Took a month to get here but worth the wait. I try a lot of different hair and aftershave products and this one is top of the list. Subtle Bay Rum scent in a pomade that is easy to apply and keeps hold all day whilst the scent compoliments the bay rum aftershave i use. Once applied, the smooth paste keeps hair feeling fresh and looking natural whilst doing the job a pomade should be doing. I only ordered 2 jars this time but will be reordering very soon.
🇺🇸💈Battle Born Grooming Co. Clay Pomade
Fragrance: Bay Rum
Pomade Category: Clay Pomade
The product comes in an amber glass jar with black screw cap, on the side we find a sticker with graphics, product information and ingredients, nothing special but a nice graphic composition. The pomade itself is light gray in color and is really easy to scoop up with minimal pressure. The breakdown proceeds smoothly, here we begin to feel the dry hold that the product has resulting in an easy application but with a slight resistance which will be noticed a little bit in the styling phase, where the comb flows but with a slight resistance. The result will be a firm hold with added volume, enough texture and a light presence in the hair accompanied by a pleasant matte shine. The fragrance is a classic Bay Rum, really well made and very pleasant and clean, one of the best Bay Rum smelled in a pomade . A great product for Battle Born that i have to applaud.
Great smelling and great hold! Worth the price and buy!!!
I don't have much experience with putting effort into my hair. It's a recent thing. I got this product for my new side part haircut after trying a few other pomades, like Imperial. The two reasons why I bought it: a low shine pomade was exactly what I was looking for... and the brand looks awesome! Seriously, the name and graphic design were most of the appeal for me.
Size: Speaking of the jar, I was shocked at how small it was when I received it — guess I didn't think about how big 4 oz was. I was worried at first that it would only last me a few weeks or a month, but after about two weeks of daily use, I've barely scratched the surface. So that's encouraging! Use about a dime-size. Trust me, it works fine in small amounts and taking big chunks out will just waste it.
Smell: There *is* a smell when you open the jar. It smells like Beeswax, primarily. But it's very faint and goes away as soon as you start applying it. It's a very natural smell, since there's no "Fragrance" with hidden ingredients. You know exactly what's in the jar!
Hold: As a Medium Hold pomade, you can mess up your hair a bit, both on purpose and on accident. But it's really easy to put back together with a comb or other utensil, sometimes even after you get bedhead. Very impressive! You can use a larger amount for a stronger/stiffer hold, but be careful you don't use wasteful amounts.
Overall I'm really happy with this product. Thank you, Clan Battle-Born!
Awesome Product. Great Volume, high texture, good hold and endurance. An additionally benefit is, that the product conditions the hair. The bayrum scent is noticible but infoffense. I like the scent.
Highly recommend this matte paste. One of the best you can get.
